October - Discover the latest developments at our resorts
Construction update Recreation Park Oysterduinen
Resort Oysterduinen made significant progress in October. Rentals were successful, with a record number of bookings during the Oyster Festival. Phase 3 of construction is progressing well, with the completion of 11 homes, meaning that half of this phase is now finished. The team has also been strengthened with Melanie Huis-Visch as the new receptionist, who coordinates day-to-day operations together with resort manager Alexander van Sabben.
In addition, new local partnerships are being explored, including a collaboration with the craft brewery Bierseke and a more intensive partnership with the Oesterij for the coming year. These initiatives are intended to enhance the local experience and contribute to the growth of the resort. These developments put Resort Oysterduinen well on track for a successful 2026.
Construction update Fryske Mar
The last update discussed the careful approach to nature and the preparations for the development of the park at Fryske Mar. Now, the first visible steps have been taken towards the next phase.
Work on the site will commence in the coming month, including the removal of vegetation and old paving. This is the first step in preparing the area for construction, with a focus on the construction of roads and facilities. The work includes removing trees that do not fit into the park design and clearing the site of shrubs and vegetation.
Balk, the village where the project is taking place, is an official stop on the Elfstedentocht ice skating tour and has its own charm in every season. Further details about the planning and important milestones will be shared in the next newsletter.
Construction update Lake Retreats
Preparations for the next phase of Lake Retreats are in full swing. Various activities will be carried out in the coming months, including installing the pile foundations for the homes, followed by the construction of the sewerage system and utilities. Next, the edges for the concrete foundations will be placed, after which the floors of the homes will be poured.
Towards the end of the year, the floors will be left to cure during the winter break, after which work will resume with the removal of the formwork and the installation of the first chalets. The revetments on the waterfront will also be installed.
After this phase, work will begin on the construction of the gardens and the finishing of the grounds. More information about the progress in the new year will be shared in the next construction update. With these steps, Lake Retreats is getting closer to its ultimate goal: a peaceful, natural and comfortable place by the water.
Construction update Huis ter Heide
In recent weeks, Huis ter Heide has refocused on nature, conducting ecological research and preparing for the next phase. The research revealed that the site is home to protected species such as the polecat, stone marten and bank vole, highlighting the area's exceptional biodiversity.
In order to continue developing the park in a responsible manner, we have applied for a nature permit from the province of Drenthe, due to the presence of these protected species. This may cause some delay, but we are doing our best to minimise this.
As compensation for the protected animals, new resting and shelter areas will be created in the vicinity of the park, such as hedgerows and shelters, so that nature is preserved alongside the further development of the park.
